Brixenbach research catchment: Quantification of runoff process proportions in a small Alpine catchment depending on soil moisture states and precipitation characteristics

چکیده
The Brixenbach valley is a small Alpine torrent catchment (9.2 km2, 820–1950 m a.s.l., 47.45°, 12.26°) in Tyrol, Austria. Intensive hydrological research the since more than 12 years, including hydrogeological survey, pedological and land use mapping, measurements of precipitation, runoff, soil moisture infiltration as well conduction rainfall simulations, has contributed to understand response catchment, its subcatchments specific sites. paper presents synthesis form runoff process maps for different states precipitation characteristics, derived with aid newly developed Soil-hydrological model. These clearly visualize differing reaction subcatchments. pasture dominated areas produce high surface flow rates during short events (1 h, 86 mm) intensity, whilst forested often develop shallow subsurface flow. Dry preconditions lead slight reduction flow, long (24 170 dominance deep percolation.

The influence of soil moisture on threshold runoff generation processes in an alpine headwater catchment
This study investigates the role of soil moisture on the threshold runoff response in a small headwater catchment in the Italian Alps that is characterised by steep hillslopes and a distinct riparian zone. This study focuses on: (i) the threshold soil moisture-runoff relationship and the influence of catchment topography on this relation; (ii) the temporal dynamics of soil moisture, streamflow ...

متن کاملThe Effects of Micro Catchment Runoff Harvesting System on Soil Moisture Enhancement
Rainfall harvesting and storage in soil depth through micro catchment contribute to curtail water deficiency of plants. The objective of this research that was conducted in Kaboodeh-Olya village in Kermanshah province, Iran, was to compare the effects of three different micro catchment systems on soil moisture storage including flat, crescent and rhombus shaped. The experimental research was pe...
متن کاملSoil moisture-runoff relation at the catchment scale as observed with coarse resolution microwave remote sensing
Microwave remote sensing offers emerging capabilities to monitor global hydrological processes. Instruments like the two dedicated soil moisture missions SMOS and HYDROS or the Advanced Scatterometer onboard METOP will provide a flow of coarse resolution microwave data, suited for macro-scale applications. Only recently, the scatterometer onboard of the European Remote Sensing Satellite, which ...
متن کاملPredictions of rainfall-runoff response and soil moisture dynamics in a microscale catchment using the CREW model
Predictions of catchment hydrology have been performed generally using either physically based, distributed models or conceptual lumped or semi-distributed models. In recognition of the disadvantages of using either of these modeling approaches, namely, detailed data requirements in the case of distributed modeling, and lack of physical basis of conceptual/lumped model parameters, Reggiani et a...
